The Spirit of the Crag: A Climber’s Journey to Wisdom

A group of climbers arrived at the foot of a crag, drawn to its rugged beauty and the challenge it presented. They gazed up at its sheer face and rough texture and felt the call of the climb. 🧗🧗‍♀️

🌬️They began their ascent and felt the weight of the rock beneath their fingers and the power of the wind at their backs. They climbed higher, with a feeling of stoke as they inched closer to the moon.

But as they climbed, they began to sense a presence; a feeling of ancient wisdom that seemed to emanate from the rock. It was as if the crag was alive, speaking to them in a language they quite couldn’t understand.

They reached the top and saw the moon hovering above them like a guardian angel. They felt a sense of awe as if they had tapped into something primal. 💫

🪨 Suddenly, they heard a deep voice that came from the heart of the crag. “You have climbed well,” it said. “You have shown courage and determination and have proven yourselves worthy.”

The climbers were stunned. They had never heard anything like this before. “Who are you?” they asked.

“I am the spirit of the rock,” the voice replied. “I have watched over this formation for centuries and have seen many climbers come and go. But you are different. You have shown respect for the rock and for the ancient wisdom I contain.”

The climbers listened in awe, feeling the weight of the words and the power of the voice; they were in the presence of something special, something sacred.

And then, as suddenly as it had appeared, the voice was gone, and the crag was once again silent.

As the climbers made their descent, they couldn’t shake the feeling that they had experienced something profound. They were given a gift, a glimpse into the mysterious; and they knew that they had a responsibility to care for and protect the crag that had given them so much.

And so, another century passed and the climbers were long gone; though that lonely crag pushed on, testing the times. It eventually became known as Smith Rock, one of the seven wonders of Oregon. There it still waits, ready to speak again, waiting to share its wisdom, to any worthy climbers…

✨If the crag were to speak to you today, what would it say?
